For additional tips and advice on what to do when your test frame wont stay put on a particular wall surfaces, please scroll down until you reach the FAQ section in BLUE below:

    What are they made of?
Easy Frames are made right here in NZ out of 3mm, extremely light weight, high quality, coloured and polished acrylic.

What sizes do they come in?
    To fit photo sizes 6×4, 4×4, 5×7, and 5×5.

What colours do they come in?
Black, White, Red, Yellow, Blue, Green.

Can I purchase Easy Frames individually?
Yes they can be purchased individually or in easy start combo packs.

How are they held in place?
The secret to Easy Frames are the specially designed ‘Gel Mounts’.

    Are they Removable?
Yes – Easy Frames will remove easily, cleanly, without damage and will not leave a residue.  Caution is required on some surfaces such as wallpaper.

Can we buy additional Gel Mounts if required?
Every Easy Frame comes with one sheet of Gel mounts (12 per sheet) however additional Gel Mounts can be purchased in lots of 10, 20 and 30 sheets for as little as 65c per sheet.

How often can Easy Frames be used?
Easy Frames can be used unlimited times.  All you need is 6 Gel Mounts each time a frame is reused.  Each frame comes with sufficient Mounts to hang it two times, and additional Mounts can be purchased.

What surfaces can Easy Frames be displayed on?
Easy Frames can displayed on most clean dry surfaces in seconds including painted and wallpapered walls, fridges, windows and mirrors, kitchen cupboards, doors, practically any clean dry surface you can think of.  Some surfaces exposed to heat or moisture/condensation may effect adhesion.  It is not recommended to display Easy Frames above or near heaters or fire places.

How should I prepare the wall surface?
The surface MUST be completely clean and dry before displaying your Easy Frames.  Mix half a cup of Methylated Spirits with 2 cups of warm water, then use a clean soft cloth to wipe the area down.  Once clean leave the wall to completely dry for half an hour, then you are ready to go.

Do you need to take the frame down to change the photo?
Yes, the frames need to be taken down when changing the photo, however changing the photos is very easy and only takes a few seconds.

Can photo matte be used with the frames?
Yes definitely – However see Easy Frame ‘Double Ups’ they are fantastic!

Do the frames have glass fronts?
No, Easy Frames are designed with no glass covering the photo to ensure perfect ‘unobstructed’ viewing any time of the day, in any room, no matter what the lighting conditions.

    Are the photos protected?
The frames do not have glass on purpose to prevent reflections.  However we do sell a specially formulated clear acrylic spray that protects the photo surface.  This is very simple to apply, dries in seconds and will protect the surface, improve contrast, prevent moisture damage, and has UV inhibitors.

What photos look best in Easy Frames Matte or Gloss?
Gloss will create more reflections on the surface of the photo as light shines on them.  These reflections may obstruct viewing, therefore we recommend printing matte photos for best results.

The below section offers tips and further advice on what you should check and or try when your test frame wont stay put.  9 times out of 10 if your test frame wont stay up there is a reason for this that can be a simple fix.  if you don’t find the answer you need below, please feel free to give us a call and we can help you get it sorted.  Worse case scenario  if we just can’t seem to make them stay – we are happy to discuss refund options with you :)

    • Make sure your is wall dry.  For the frames to stay in place the surface needs to be appropriate for the frames to stay put.  Some homes with high moisture levels may mean the walls can become slightly damp even if they might feel dry to the touch, particularly wall paper.  Also wall areas close to external doorways or kitchens and bathrooms may also have moisture in the air that might be a contributing factor.  If you think this might be the case, try testing some walls in different locations around the house to see if they are any better.
    • Make sure your wall is clean. While a wall might seem clean, often they will have minute dust that may prevent a good bond.  This is why we recommend that all wall surfaces are cleaned down prior to installation no matter how clean you think they might be.
    • Make sure your wall is flat and even.  If your wall is not straight and flat, then this will put extra demand on the Gel Mounts to hold it in place.  If the wall is pulling in the opposite direction – the wall will normally win.  You can check for straightness of the wall by holding something that you know has a straight edge up against it and then look for gaps between your straight edge and wall.  Sometimes you can get away with a little irregularity in the wall by placing one gel mount on top of the other Gel Mounts in each corner of the frame (however do not double the mounts in the middle that are covering both the frame and photo).  This will double the thickness of the mounts in the corners and therefore give them a little more depth to counteract the slight curve in the wall.
    • The frames must be straight themselves.  Check to make sure each frame is straight before you hang them.  Sometimes if they have been sitting in the sun, or not left sitting flat, they may take on a very slight bend.  They can also do this at times as the moisture level in the Acrylic changes due to atmospheric conditions.  This will not be an issue once on the wall as the Mounts should prevent any movement, however it is important that they are flat before you put them up.  Just take a look down the edge of each one and check for this.  if you notice a slight bend just give it a very gentle bend in the opposite direction until it straightens.
    • Gel Mounts must be thicker than the photo. Most digital printing of photos these days are printed on very light weight paper (just 100 – 200 gsm) and these are no problem at all, as the Gel Mounts thickness is greater.  However there are some printers that may use paper that is thicker (maybe 200 – 400 gsm, for example many postcards are this weight).  Therefore if you are wanting to hang postcards, or older photos that might be thicker then one thing you can do is double up the Gel Mounts on the four corners of the frame (put one on top of the other).  This will make the mounts thicker and insure they protrude further out off the frame than the photo or postcard does.  We had this issue once with some old print we had done many years ago and it was solved very simply by doubling the mounts up.

The above tips are things you can try, in the unlikely event that your test frame just not wont stay put!  While it may all sound very complected it really isn’t all that scary :)  If you would like to talk to us about any issues you might have PLEASE give us a call so we can help you out as that is what we are here for.  At the end of the day Easy Frames are not called ‘Easy’ for nothing – they really are fun and fantastic 99.9% of the time, however sometime things happen just to test us! :)
